Our instructor line-up for this year's Six-Week Workshop has changed; the new version appears to the right. Justina Robson isn't going to be able to be here; instead, Margo Lanagan will teach July 14 through 20. We're sorry Justina won't join us this year, but thrilled that Margo, also an alumna, is returning.

And we've switched the order of appearance for our last two instructors, so that Samuel R. Delany will teach July 21 through July 27 and Ellen Datlow will teach July 28 through August 2.

Our Executive Director, Davis B. Fox, left Clarion West at the end of December. He goes with our best wishes and warm thanks for all he has done to help Clarion West grow and become more sustainable. We'll be retaining an Interim Executive Director to help us in the search for our next permanent Executive Director, and we expect to keep all of you in the CW community posted on the process.

Michael Swanwick put the signed, framed, original typescript of his story "From Ghoulies and Ghosties, Long-Leggitie Beasties..." up for auction at eBay. Then he donated its entire $150 sale price to Clarion West. Thank you, Michael, and congratulations to the winning bidder!

Michael is an award-winning author, a former CW instructor, and recent Write-a-thon participant. He spent October writing this wonderful Hallowe'en story one sentence a day. Read "From Ghoulies and Ghosties, Long-Leggitie Beasties..." in its entirety on Flogging Babel, Michael's blog.

On Sunday, September 23, writer Stephen Graham Jones taught "I Was a Teen Age Infodumper." For six hours students focused on ways to convey information minus irritating expository lumps. Jones, who also taught during Clarion West's most recent Six-Week Workshop, came back to Seattle from Colorado to take part in our special, small class-size One-Day Workshops.

"I wrote exciting new pieces I had no idea I was capable of,” a workshop student told us afterwards. For Workshop Director Leslie Howle's detailed recap of the day, log in to your Facebook account and visit our Facebook page.
