Write-a-thon 2010 -- Here It Comes!

Ooooooh yeah!

Write-a-thon 2010 is just around the corner! Clarion West starts up again on June 20th—and so do we! We—yes, we!—the home team for Clarion West, the distant writers on beds/couches/desks/lunch breaks/coffee shop tables all around the world—we’re playing the home game, and we’re playing to win! (I know as writers we’re officially not supposed to use that many exclamation marks. I’m just getting mine all out of the way here. I mean, here!)

The Write-a-thon is a great way to set goals for your own writing. 25 words a day or 2500 words a week—set goals that feel good for you. Whether you’re stretching yourself, or reminding yourself that you love to write, bragging on your blog or suffering in silence—don’t be shy, come ‘thon-a-long!

Get your friends, family members, or coworkers to hold you accountable. Try on a penny a word, or a buck a page for size. Challenge your classmates, dare other writers you know, get the word out and the wordcounts rolling.

Last year we had an incredible 75 people participate in the Write-a-thon—this year we want to see all of them back, plus 25 more. You’ll be helping yourself, while helping the larger community of Clarion West. The Write-a-thon is open to the whole Clarion West community: alumni, instructors, friends. While the Write-a-thon is an important fundraiser for Clarion West, please join in even if you can’t donate. We’re all writers first here.

Thanks, Erin!

Thanks, Erin! Write-a-thon-a-rama!

(See, I can use an exclamation mark, too! We'll drive Nisi nuts doing this!)

I'm not on the Clarion West board any more, but I'm still volunteering, and I'm still issuing a challenge for the the Write-a-thon: I'll sponsor the first 20 to sign up, for $20 each. The first nine have already signed up using our new online registration form, so these challenges are going fast.

You know you have something you really want to write this summer. You can do it. You can do it!

Ha! Because I slacked during

Ha!

Because I slacked during our test period, I'll input my info now, and you'll have to sponsor me, muahaha!

(And then I, in turn, will match funds up to $100, so it's like you're doubling your donation money!)

I hope other people out there are taking Kate up on her super generous offer :D
