Camille Griep
Excerpt
Siren The wizened mermaid winces sibilantly, pulling the barbed hook from her gnarled scales. She presses the shining line into the thick palm of the astonished fisherman. The sun flounders back into the water as the bull kelp rots, stranded on the warm rocks. Her crows' feet deepen as she chortles at his dismay. "Don't worry, young man," she croons with a papery pat on the arm. "This sort of thing happens all the time."
Bio

Writing Description
I am interested in the concepts of home, family, and happiness. I am interested in the dichotomy between science and faith. I am interested in re-framing the mundane. I am writing flash pieces alongside a longer novel.
Writing Goals
I'll be constructing one flash piece per week based on children's rhymes and stories, with a goal of polishing and submitting them after the Write-a-thon. I plan to mash up the following tales in 1000 words or less:
Week 1: Teddy Bear's Picnic + Jack and Jill
Week 2: Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly + Little Miss Muffett + Itsy Bitsy Spider
Week 3: Three Blind Mice + Hickory Dickory Dock
Week 4: Old McDonald + Farmer in the Dell
Week 5: Mother Hubbard + Jack Sprat
Week 6: Peter Pumpkin Eater + The Muffin Man
Fundraising Goals
This is my first year of participating in the Write-a-thon, so I'd like to set a modest fundraising goal of $200.
For every $10 donated to Clarion West, you can either:
1. Become "Tuckerized" (your name or the name of someone you love will be used in a story as a character)
OR
2. specify a place or setting in one of the stories
OR
3. supply three words to be integrated into the story.
If you'd like your designations to apply to a specific story, then do let me know at camillegriep@gmail.com
