Excerpt

Even as a tiny child, I found sea-beings curious especial Halon. He was my father’s biggest headache and dearest friend. Eyeing his webbed hands, I watched him as he moved. As always, he was graceful like his people. I looked at his face and noticed a change. I saw that a few of his teeth were sharpened into fangs. "Your teeth?" I asked him pointing to my own more human smile.

He understood the questioning.

When his voice comes it is what I knew to be Halon's voice. It is smooth and full of patience, yet in my dream world, it is mingled with Jovan Contreras disturbing Spanish lilt.

"Kalfa are of the sea. As you know Oli take on an aspect of creatures that they relate to on Earth and on Olenarch. I study sea creatures. I am fascinated by the durability of sharks on this planet. This is how I pay homage to those fine creatures and the liquid that binds both our worlds."
Someone barks, "Tell the little one the truth Professor, You and all of the Oli-kalfa have been among these primitives for far too long."

Others laugh good naturally, "Ha! Agreed!"

I remembered Halon's smile. The fangs added to his usual, devilish grin. Like the rest of The Kalfa, he was well-muscled and lean, with dark skin aside from his green coloration on his lower body. He was a creature with long limbs and eye color of a stunning green hue.

Halon laughed in a gentle way. "Perhaps I have gone a bit... native."  He answered, smiling down at me.

Bio

I was born and raised in NYC. I love art and mysticism. I am an artist, writer, poet, dreamer of wild masquerade balls and starship battles.

My first published novel is A Time of Blood and Fire. It can be found on Barnes and Noble (website only) and via Amazon. It is available in Print On Demand form or as an e-book. Copies can be had in NYC at McNally Jackson Books as an in store POD or at St. Marks Bookstore in soft cover.

Writing Description

I write fast-paced, sweeping sagas about war, romance, and intrigue. They are fantasy or some type of strange hodgepodge of fantasy, science fiction, and sometimes spirituality.

Writing Goals

I'm currently writing my second novel. I plan to use any chance to get it to the finish line and then, to my editor. The novel is a romantic steampunk/sci-fi story set in Jamaica in 1690 during the end of pirating. My working title for it is "Gold Veil Angel." I'm about 100 pages in and can see the end. It would be great to transform some of the time it takes to finish my book into raising funds for a good cause.

Fundraising Goals

I'd like to raise $500 or more. If every one on my Twitter feed alone would give Clarion West a dollar or two, it would be fantastic!
